Tool #1: StoryJumper

Summary

Story Jumper is a free to use book making website. A teacher can add their students to the website where they can make their own stories using the pictures and other tools provided on the website. It incorporates images from the website but also has the capability to upload their own pictures. This is a great way to have kids present their knowledge about topics visually and in their own words. The stories can also be printed as a real story book for a very small cost.

 

Selection Criteria

It is interactive for children with many relatable pictures and scenes. It is also free to use and is made for teachers to use with many different children. It also has the capability to create real books that the teachers can use in the future with other classes.

 

ALCOS Connection

This tool is good to use for the Technology Education standard for grades 3-5 "12.) Create a product using digital tools" because it is an online tool that allows children to create something that can be made in to a real product that is shipped to them. They can make projects for class and be able to tell an original story to their classmates while having a concrete book in their hands.
