Tool #3: PollEverywhere

Summary

The website allows teachers to create different kinds of polls. It can be open-ended, multiple choice, and even by clicking parts of an image. The site allows for a number of ways to express opinions and other type of knowledge. They can be used as a way to assess the knowledge children might already have about a topic.\

 

Selection Criteria

It is easy to make a free account but also gives the option to have a premium account for a small fee. It has a large amount of tools to easily make a variety of polls allowing teachers to understand what children do and do not. There is also options of customization to give the poll personality for each teacher.

 

ALCOS Connection

This takes the Technology Education standard for grades K-2 "8.) Use digital environments to exchange ideas with individuals or groups." This is because it gives children the digital environment where they can answer questions and give their own opinions, allowing for a medium to visualize their ideas to talk about them. Talking about their ideas allows collaboration between students but also gives the children a chance to revise their own thinking.
