A Learning Process of Teaching
Tool #4: Prezi
Summary
Prezi is an easy online tool to make different and aesthetically pleasing presentations of information. It is an easily and flexible tool to design presentations. The tool can be used for a variety of situations, such as presenting a lesson, allow children to , and to present data in a unique way. It's an easy to learn tool that can be easily accessed by stuents, teachers, and even superintendents. The tool is easy to learn and has lots of features unique to the program as well as different versions of the program considering how much someone is willing to pay, be it free, $10 a month, etc.
Selection Criteria
I wanted something that had a more flexible presentation style. Prezi was chosen over powerpoint because it has a variable of options to make paths. Powerpoints are limited to the one screen type whereas Prezi incorporates more movement which can help direct people's attention to the presentation. Also, it can be, but does not have to be, installed on to computers. This allows more flexibility of use. Especially because not all computers have powerpoint installed, people can still be able to use the program on the web. Finally, it has a large amount of templates that are easily chosen from a menu. They are still more intricate than a simple powerpoint, but the tools for editing the blurbs are easy to learn and allow the user an easy but beautiful looking product.
ALCOS connection
As per the ALCOS English Language Arts "Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas" standard for 7th grade; "34.) Include multimedia components and visual displays in presentations to clarify claims and findings and emphasize salient points," Prezi would give children a good way to present their ideas and findings using multimedia in a visually appealing way.
